Grant eligibility is limited to organizations that have been granted tax exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Applicants must have their primary administrative office located on Mount Desert Island and serve the residents of the island. The Lynam Trust does not award grants to individuals.

The Lynam Trust will consider grant applications for charitable, religious, and educational organizations, programs, and services. Grants may be awarded for operational needs, facilities, or capital campaigns.

Grants will not exceed one (1) year, however, applicants may reapply every year whether or not a grant is awarded. Grant awards may range from $500 to $5,000.

The grant application deadline is September 18th. Applications will be reviewed by the Grants Committee each November. Grants will be awarded and distributed by December 31st of the same calendar year.

All applicants will be required to fill out a completion report within a 12 month period.
